Approach and Values

I believe the best psychiatric care begins with genuine human connection. My approach blends clinical expertise with deep empathy, ensuring that treatment is grounded in the best available evidence while honoring each person’s unique history, values, and lived experience. I see care as a true partnership, working alongside individuals to build a relationship rooted in trust, curiosity, and mutual respect. I also value the role that spirituality, faith, and meaning-making can play in healing, and I welcome open conversations about purpose, belief, and identity when they are important to the person sitting across from me. My hope is to help people move toward wholeness, not only relief from symptoms, but a deeper sense of wellness, integrity, and inner stability.

An important part of my philosophy is a careful and thoughtful approach to psychiatric medications. I aim to prescribe in a way that is intentional, evidence informed, and attentive to both short-term relief and long-term wellbeing. This is especially true for controlled medications, such as benzodiazepines and stimulant medications, which can be helpful in select situations but also carry meaningful risks when used long term or without clear ongoing benefit. When patients are transferring care, I do not simply continue a prior prescriber’s medication regimen by default. Instead, medication decisions are made after a thorough evaluation and ongoing dialogue, with attention to safety, effectiveness, and each person’s goals. When medication changes or tapering are considered, this is done collaboratively and carefully, with respect for the individual’s experience and concerns.

I also have a strong interest in supporting high-performing individuals who want to protect and strengthen their mental health while navigating demanding environments. This often includes work around ADHD and executive functioning, mood regulation under pressure, recovery from injury or illness, leadership stress, or maintaining clarity and balance amid high responsibility. I also provide care for conditions such as generalized anxiety disorder, treatment-resistant depression, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders. In appropriate cases, this may include discussion of advanced treatments such as TMS therapy or Spravato. In all of this work, I combine evidence-based medicine with an understanding of the unique pressures faced by professionals, executives, athletes, and other high achievers.

Ultimately, my goal is to help each person develop the clarity, resilience, and emotional steadiness needed to navigate life with intention and to live in a way that feels grounded, meaningful, and sustaining.
